Exhibits in Florence: Fattori and Naturalism in Tuscany
From March 19 - June 22, 2008, the magnificent settings of the Villa Bardini in Florence will host the exhibit: "Fattori and Naturalism in Tuscany".
The event is just one of those planned by the city of Florence during its "Florence for Fattori" celebration, commemorating the 100-year anniversary of one of its most famous artist's death with a specially dedicated exhibit on the Macchiaioli painters. This exhibit compares the works of the movement's famous master with those of his successors on naturalistic and bourgeoisie themes that reveal the cultural and style evolutions of that period.
35 paintings are on display, some for the first time: 11 of Fattori's works are placed side by side with those by Francesco and Luigi Gioli, Eugenio Cecconi, Adolfo and Angiolo Tommasi, Ruggero Panerai, Guglielmo Micheli, Egisto Ferroni, Niccolò Cannicci and Raffaello Sorbi.
The exhibit opens with a section fully dedicated to the famous Macchiaiolo painter entitled: "A Great Painter of Nature". Some of Fattori's most famous works on display include: "Branding of the Colts in Maremma", "The Hay Harvest in Maremma", "Tombolo. Horses to Flight" and "Viale Principe Amedeo" realistically depicting daily life in the Tuscan countryside. The following four sections "Painting in the Fields", "'Courtly' Naturalism", "The Maremma" and "Urban Views" with works that portray natural beauty and humble everyday life in Tuscany.
